"Since day one they've been inviting us to come, but of course we've been in Switzerland, so Art Basel is not a close commodity," said Paloma Picasso at Soho Beach House in Miami last night. "After all those years, we finally come and its really nice!"

Picasso was speaking from the Whitney Museum of American Art and Tiffany & Co.'s dinner celebrating the 2017 Biennial artists. She was among a roomful of patrons and creatives taking in the art, heat, and company of this season's Art Basel over burrata and heirloom tomatoes, black truffle risotto, braised short ribs, and more. "I'm so excited to see the work in the Biennial!" exclaimed Mickalene Thomas from the space's garden room. "It's just around the corner."

Nearby, Kehinde Wiley, Ruby Aldridge, and Casey Fremont sipped on Champagne as slices of key lime pie were placed on the tables. "This is really a night about artists," said the Whitney's Adam Weinberg. "Gertrude Whitney was an artist; she loved art, but she loved artists even more."
