Last night, the fashion and art worlds gathered at New York's storied Down Town Association for the Art Production Fund's "Gangs of New York" gala. This year, the annual theme party honored the artist Haim Steinbach, who brought a site-specific installation to the old gentleman's club, and Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, whose Spring 2015 collection inspired this year's theme, "on the fringe." Guests including Liv Tyler, Cindy Sherman, David Schwimmer, Cathy Horyn, Rachel Feinstein and Kara Mann (who also creative directed the evening) mingled in old smoking parlors and lined up for highbrow variations on the best of bar mitzvah cocktail activities, like getting their portraits shot by Will Cotton for $1000 a piece and applying temporary tattoos designed by the artist Sean Landers - all in the name of APF's fundamental mission: making art accessible. The cocktail was followed by a glamorous, candle-lit dinner provided by Charlie Bird, during which Doreen Remen, Yvonne Force Villareal and Casey Fremont Crowe delivered their congratulatory address.
